Our Story

Heritage & Tradition

A historic site in Guadeloupe, DARBOUSSIER takes its name from Jean DARBOUSSIER, the owner of the estate in the 18th century, which initially housed a sugar plantation before becoming the largest sugar mill in Guadeloupe in 1869.

The Darboussier factory left us with the memory of those small trains overloaded with sugar cane that traveled through the towns of Grande-Terre. Known as “Loupiti” or “Caté”, these trains, crossing Pointe à Pitre towards the factory, were often followed by a throng of children trying to collect the cane that had fallen from the convoy.

A Unique Craftsmanship

But Darboussier has left us with a fabulous legacy: a unique craftsmanship in the art of aging to produce this rum, renowned worldwide for so long.

Once shipped by sea, the barrels were loaded on the docks of La Darse aboard merchant ships that set out to supply foreign markets.

The Magic of Time

More than a century later, Darboussier rum draws its strength from these same age-old methods, using ancestral aging processes. The magic of time takes place in cellars made of the finest French and American oak barrels under the watchful eye of the master distiller. Proven methods that give its nectar a unique character.

According to connoisseurs, DARBOUSSIER®️ aged rums are characterized by their aromatic richness.

They are refined, subtle, and spicy, rivaling the finest spirits.
